WPForms Testing

CheckView officially supports automated testing of WPForms, on both WPForms Lite and WPForms Pro. WPForms appears as a form plugin when you create a test flow, and CheckView builds the test steps for you, no manual step configuration required.

Requirements

There is no WPForms setting to change. In particular, CheckView does not need WPForms to store entries, so database validation works on WPForms Lite as well as Pro. See Testing on WPForms Lite.

What CheckView does on a WPForms test

  • Automatic test generation. CheckView detects your published WPForms forms, lists the pages WPForms records each form on, and generates the test steps automatically.
  • Email suppression. Form notification emails are redirected to the CheckView test inbox during a test run, so your real recipients never receive test submissions. CC recipients are stripped.
  • Anti-spam and CAPTCHA handling. WPForms’ built-in CAPTCHA (reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha and Cloudflare Turnstile) is switched off for CheckView test sessions only, and a Custom Captcha add-on field is removed from the form for the test. Akismet, hCaptcha for WordPress, Simple Cloudflare Turnstile and WP Armour are handled, and CleanTalk lets CheckView’s test submissions through. Real visitors keep full protection.   • Email suggestions off. WPForms’ “Did you mean…?” email suggestion is switched off for test sessions so it cannot interrupt the submission.
  • Integration suppression. When Disable Form Integrations During Tests is on, CheckView stops the listeners that run after a WPForms submission completes, which is where WPForms’ CRM and email marketing providers, webhooks, User Registration and Post Submissions run. Notification emails still send, and on Pro the entry is still saved, so both checks can run. See Disable Form Integrations During Tests.
  • Database submission validation. The submission is copied into the CheckView tables as WPForms processes it and verified against the values the bot entered. On WPForms Pro the test entry is then removed from WPForms’ entries so your submissions stay clean. Name fields in the First Last or First Middle Last format are checked part by part.
  • Dropdowns. Classic dropdowns and WPForms’ modern dropdown style, including multiple selection, are both supported.
  • Phone fields. The Smart phone format, with its country picker, is supported.
  • File uploads. Both the modern (drag and drop) and classic upload styles are supported. CheckView picks a sample file that matches the field’s accepted file types and waits for the upload to finish before it submits.
  • Date and time fields. The date picker and the date dropdown style are both supported, as is the time picker in 12 and 24 hour formats. CheckView respects WPForms’ date and time limits, such as future or past dates only, weekdays only, and a limited time window.
  • Multi-page forms. CheckView moves through WPForms’ page breaks with the Next button automatically, and only fills a file upload field on the page where it is actually shown.

Creating a WPForms test flow

WPForms works the same as any other supported form plugin. From your website dashboard, click Add Test Flow, choose WPForms, select your form and URL, set a schedule, and CheckView builds the steps. Full walkthrough: Creating a Form Test Flow.

Things to know

Testing on WPForms Lite

WPForms Lite does not save entries to your WordPress database. CheckView does not rely on them: the helper plugin copies the submission into the CheckView tables at the moment WPForms finishes processing it, then validates it there. A test on Lite therefore confirms the submission went through and, with the email check in the flow, that the notification actually arrived. On Lite there is no WPForms entry to clean up afterwards.

Where the page list comes from

The URLs offered for a form are the locations WPForms itself records for it, which are the posts and pages whose content embeds the form. A form placed in a widget area, or anywhere else WPForms does not record as a page, will not appear in the list. Choose Add Custom URL and enter the page path instead. Which parts of a field are checked

Name fields are stored and checked one part at a time. An Address field is stored as a single combined value, so its parts are checked against that combined value rather than individually.

Integrations outside the usual hook

Integration suppression covers integrations that run when WPForms completes a submission, which is where WPForms’ own add-ons run. An integration added by custom code or another plugin at a different point in the submission may still run during a test. If you need to be certain a sensitive integration never fires, test against a staging environment.
